Direct Admission in B Pharma
A Bachelor of Pharmacy is also b pharma is an undergraduate academic degree in the field of pharmacy. It is a four-year program with both annual and semester schemes available. In order to be eligible, one must pass with at least 50% marks in 10 + 2 (or an equivalent examination) with biology/biotechnology as one of the subjects.
In some states it is mandatory to give an additional pharmacy entrance examination in order to be eligible for the course. D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy) holders are eligible for admission too. Since After Successful Completion of D Pharma. The Students can then Join Direct Admission in B Pharma 2nd Year. I.e via Lateral entry.
Also Pharmacy Direct Admission to pharmacy colleges are on basis of NEET, but its not centralized like medical colleges and is also not universal. Hence Pharmacy Direct Admission been taken by Approved Colleges/ Universities either Direct or by self Entrance Exams.
B Pharm holders can work in several fields such as being a pharmacist, patient counseling, doing further studies such as master’s degree, working in a university as a lecturer, or working as a drug information specialist.
Direct Admission in M Pharma
Master of Pharmacy in India is offered as post graduate course after completion of B Pharma degree. The M.Pharma course is normally of two years duration . In some universities it is one year research and one year theory examinations, while some offers M.Pharm by research completely leading to doctorate degree. The course focuses on specialization in the field of pharmacy. Therefore M.pharma courses offered by pharmacy colleges affiliated to PCI & Result leading to entry into the pharmacy profession in Conclusion .
Direct admission in Pharm D
Pharm.D course introduced by the Government of India and the Pharmacy Council India in 2008. The Pharm.D program is a pre-PhD, post-graduate professional doctoral program. Hence introduced to improve clinical pharmacy services in India. Its only pharmacy service which is in direct contact with patient health care system. The first batch of Pharm D post baccalaureate students graduated in August 2011 and 1st regular batch graduated in 2015. Hence Direct Admission in Pharm D degree requires five years of classroom and hospital base didactic study (two years didactic post-baccalaureate course), follow by one year of internship training in addition to ongoing practicals and research project in conclusion. Thus, it usually takes eight years of college study to earn a Pharm.D. and become a pharmacist.
So yes, technically pharmacists can call themselves doctor if they have earn a pharm D.
